Accommodation

Lazy Dayz on Leo is your traditional Kiwi bach, providing all you need for an enjoyable and laid-back holiday. The location is key here; being just a few minutes from the beach, we had many opportunities to surf, play in the sand and take romantic sunset walks. The shops and cafes are also nearby, so there are a lot of choices when it comes to grabbing a delicious meal.

The bach has everything needed to entertain the whole family including a box full of outdoor toys for the kids, a selection of board games for the entire family (if the weather packs it in) and a large deck area to feed the masses using the barbie. It’s also dog-friendly, so your furry friend can join in on the holiday fun without being left behind!

We loved our weekend in Waihi and found many walks and activities at our footstep. There was no need to drive around, which made the weekend even more relaxing and wholesome.

Must See

One of the highlights of our trip was hiking up The Trig Walk. This kid and dog-friendly trail took us 35 minutes to ascend, and the view from the top was nothing short of spectacular. Overlooking Waihi and the Bay of Plenty, the vista was a rewarding sight after our pleasant hike.

Waihi Beach itself is a haven for surf enthusiasts. Whether you’re a beginner looking to learn or an experienced surfer wanting to perfect your skills, the waves here cater to all levels. The northern end of the beach features a perfect left-hand point break, ideal for those seeking a bit more thrill.

Evenings were spent leisurely strolling along the beach, watching the sun dip below the horizon. This simple activity brought a sense of peace and relaxation that is hard to find elsewhere.

Food

For a unique food experience, we visited The Secret Garden, a Balinese-inspired garden cafe in the heart of Waihi Beach Village. Serving up delicious Mexican food, this charming spot is perfect for families. Our kids and even our dog enjoyed the ambiance and tasty meals.
